Student Internship Stories: Jayne McGuire, MCAS 2025 – Vector Marketing, Senior Sales Associate

How did you find your internship?

A friend at BC recommended it!

How, if at all, did the Career Center help with your internship search?

This program greatly improved my oral communication, leadership, and presentation skills. I also learned how to strengthen my resume and write comprehensive cover letters to future employers through meetings with my Career Coach, Howard Thrasher.

What did you learn about your career path from your internship experience?

Through my internship, I learned that I wanted to work with people and advocate for others. Recently, I joined BC’s Mentor Match program through Eagle Exchange where I am mentored by a BC alum who holds a career path that I may want to pursue. Current Investigative Attorney for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Michael Dinet ‘10, challenges me to step outside my comfort zone, critically think about the world around me, and strategize how I can be an advocate for others. Mr. Dinet previously held a paralegal specialist position for the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York – an internship I am applying to for Summer 2024. I am also interested in potentially interning at a District Attorney’s office – either in Boston or New York – which is another job opportunity I am exploring after I graduate next spring. Without Endeavor, a BC Career Center Program, I would not have known about the many resources the Career Center has to offer.

I would like to act as a role model for underclassmen, fostering their intellectual curiosity and supporting them in their future endeavors like my mentors have guided me. I hope I can lead them to form meaningful relationships, motivate them to reach out to BC’s Career Center, and guide them toward the process of finding an internship or job that best aligns with their career goals.
